Light tunnels are a way to illuminate interiors with natural light where it is not possible to install traditional windows. However, it is only with the right light tunnel accessories that the entire system becomes flexible, more efficient and better suited to the needs of a particular room. Thanks to these accessories, it is possible not only to extend the system, but also to adapt it to complex installation conditions or to provide a source of light even after dark.
When installing light tunnels, no two situations are the same – each space poses different challenges. Sometimes it is a matter of ceiling height, other times structural beams are an obstacle, and elsewhere ventilation ducts or chimneys need to be avoided. Such limitations may discourage the use of light tunnels, but this is where accessories come in, enabling installation even in difficult conditions. The SRK elbow is an example of a practical solution that allows you to smoothly change the direction of the light transmitting tube within a range from 0° to 45°. This makes it easy to bypass an obstacle and direct the light where it previously seemed impossible. In turn, the SRM telescopic module allows for precise adjustment of the installation length without the need to cut anything – just slide one segment into another and it is done. This design works well both during renovations and in new homes, where not everything is ready yet and the final ceiling height may change. The investor gains flexibility, and the contractor saves time and nerves. Importantly, these accessories feature a clever design as they are lightweight, durable and do not require special tools, which makes them friendly also for people who undertake the installation themselves.
Interiors without windows often appear dark, uninviting and difficult to furnish. However, daylight can radically change the way a space is perceived – it makes a room seem larger, fresher and more functional. A light tunnel solves this problem, but its effectiveness depends on how well it is adapted to the technical conditions of the building. In situations where the distance between the roof and the room is non-standard or there are obstacles in the way, it is worth using the flexible SLM extension module. This accessory allows you to extend the flexible light transmitting tube by 1.2 metres with the possibility of adjusting its length (every 30 cm up to 210 cm) – this is extremely helpful, for example, in houses with a non-standard attic design. From the user's point of view, this means a real improvement in comfort – light reaches the interior naturally and without compromise, regardless of the spatial layout. A well-lit bathroom or dressing room not only means greater comfort, but also energy savings, as you no longer need to turn on the light every time you enter the room.
Light tunnels work well during the day, when the sun provides free and eye-friendly light. However, life also goes on in the evening – users do not want to give up comfort just because it is dark outside. A key addition to the entire lighting system can be the SLO light kit, which acts as a classic light source and is installed in the lower section of the light tunnel, inside the light transmitting tube. Completely invisible, it does not interfere with the aesthetics of the ceiling, while allowing the interior to be used at any time. It supports the popular E14 bulb, so the user is not limited to one type of lighting – they can choose the colour and power of the light that suits them best. Installation from inside the room does not require chiselling, running cables in the wall or other operations in the ceiling structure. This solution is particularly useful in places such as guest restrooms, vestibules or pantries, where classic light fixtures are not installed, but functional lighting is still needed. A light tunnel with a lamp is convenient in any situation – even when it is raining, at night or on a cloudy winter day.
