Solid support and complete tightness
Installation bases are elements that significantly impact the correct and durable installation of roof windows. Their role is to raise the window above the roof level, enabling proper installation and protecting the structure from moisture and snow accumulating on the surface. Standard bases, such as the XRD or XRD/W, allow the window to be raised 15 cm above the flat roof, improving the functionality of the entire structure.
Suitable for various roof types
FAKRO installation bases have been designed to meet the needs of users in various construction conditions. The XRD/A model allows for a 3° or 5° adjustment of the installation angle, which is crucial for roofs with pitches that are too shallow to allow for free drainage of water from the window surface. Thanks to its wedge-shaped design, made of impregnated wooden elements tailored to the windows, the installation remains tight and aesthetically pleasing. The standard XRD and XRD/W bases, on the other hand, are compatible with all types of FAKRO windows and allow for quick and predictable base construction. The system’s flexibility allows for individual adaptation to the project – from a single base to a combination of several elements.
Stable and durable design
One of the most important features of installation bases is their high stability. The XRD/W base has been reinforced with wooden blocks, which guarantee additional rigidity of the entire structure. This allows for the secure vertical connection of up to three bases, providing a larger base and solid support for the window. The extended section of the frame, known as the ‘fin’, allows for a tight connection to the roof's waterproofing layer, reducing the risk of leaks. The use of impregnated elements protects the structure from moisture, while increasing its resistance to deformation and ensuring long-term use in difficult weather conditions.
Energy efficiency and insulation
Installation bases also serve as thermal insulation. The polystyrene filling reduces thermal bridges, which translates into improved energy efficiency of the building. This solution not only improves the thermal comfort of the interior, but also reduces heating costs.
Flexible configuration and wide size range
The installation base system allows individual elements to be connected together to create a higher base. In practice, this means that for roofs with a thicker insulation layer, two XRD bases can be used, one on top of the other, achieving a height increase of up to 30 cm, or three reinforced XRD/W bases, achieving a height increase of up to 45 cm. The availability of different sizes allows the product to be tailored to any window type and roof structural requirements. Compatibility with other FAKRO accessories makes the bases part of a coherent system that can be adapted to the user's needs.
