The PROFI+ garage door comes with a torsion spring system mounted at the front, above the entrance opening. Its configuration is selected depending on the garage depth and lintel height, ensuring optimal balance and smooth operation even in limited installation space. The springs are made of hardened steel wire coated with a layer of zinc, and their durability is rated at 20,000 operating cycles. A mechanical safety feature prevents the door from falling suddenly in the event of spring failure. For locations with limited lintel height, R (rear torsion springs) and X (tension springs in guide rails) mounting systems are also available.

40 mm thick panels filled with PUR foam, along with a system of peripheral and inter-panel seals, effectively reduce heat loss and noise transmission. The EPDM rubber seals used remain flexible across a wide temperature range and maintain constant pressure against the door edge. The insulation parameters are confirmed by class 3 air permeability and class 3 watertightness tests.
The guide rails and fittings are made of 1.5 mm thick galvanised steel, resistant to corrosion and deformation. Bearing rollers with vibration-damping bushings ensure smooth door guidance, and the double roller system increases stability for larger door sizes. All components have been fatigue tested and confirmed to withstand a minimum of 20,000 operating cycles.

Garage door panel
The 40 mm thick panel is made of two steel sheets with a polyurethane (PUR) foam core that tightly fills the entire space between the sheets. The panel's design guarantees excellent thermal performance – the heat transfer coefficient for the entire door is U = 1.3 W/m²K – as well as high resistance to noise and deformation. The joints between the segments are made using a tongue-and-groove system, ensuring a smooth surface and eliminating thermal bridges.

Exterior colour scheme
The exterior panel cladding is available in woodgrain, smooth, deep mat, wood-like, and sand textures, which vary in texture and gloss level. The woodgrain variant replicates the grain of wood and is the most resistant to micro-scratches, smooth is a perfectly smooth surface with a modern look, and sand has a delicate, matt texture. The standard colours offered are RAL 9016 (white) and RAL 7016 (anthracite), RAL 7016 (anthracite wood-like), RAL 8014 (brown), RAL 9006 (silver), RAL 9005 (black), and optional decors: Golden Oak, Winchester, Walnut, Swamp Oak and Turner Oak. The external colour scheme is consistent with FAKRO’s vertical joinery line, ensuring a consistent building finish.

Peripheral seals
The peripheral sealing system consists of flexible profiles made of EPDM rubber resistant to ageing, UV radiation and temperature fluctuations. The seals are installed along the side guide rails, in the top profile and in the bottom panel, creating a continuous barrier that limits air and water infiltration. With the appropriately selected material hardness, they ensure a tight fit to the substrate and the edges of the guide rails, improving the thermal and acoustic parameters of the entire structure.

Inter-panel seals
The joints between individual segments are equipped with EPDM lip seals, which compensate for minor dimensional deviations and eliminate air and water penetration in the joint area. The seal profile has been designed to maintain constant pressure between the panels during door operation, regardless of temperature and direction of movement. This element also serves to dampen vibrations, contributing to the quiet and stable operation of the entire door.

Spring breakage protection
The torsion and tension spring system is equipped with a locking mechanism that immediately stops the rotation of the shaft or guide mechanism in the event of a spring break. This solution works mechanically – without the need for power – and locks the winding drums, preventing the sudden drop of the door. The mechanism meets the requirements of EN 13241 for safety in use and can be reused after replacing the damaged spring.

Spring system F / R / X
PROFI+ garage doors can be equipped with one of three weight-balancing systems:
System F – torsion springs mounted at the front, to the lintel. This universal solution is used in most standard garages, ensuring easy service access and optimal force distribution.
System R – rear torsion springs located at the end of the horizontal guide rails at the back of the garage. Suitable for installation in garages with limited lintel height or in places where lower installation above the door is required.
System X – tension springs mounted along vertical guide rails, designed for smaller and lighter garage doors. It allows for installation in garages with limited lintel height or in places where lower installation above the garage door is required. This system uses vertical covers that conceal the springs and make them invisible to the user.
All variants ensure smooth operation and uniform door opening. A section visualising their structural layout is planned below.

Guide rollers
Guide rollers are made of abrasion-resistant plastic and mounted on ball bearings with increased durability. They are set in side hinges, which ensure stable garage door guidance in guide rails and minimise noise during operation. The PROFI+ version uses single rollers.

Emergency power supply
The emergency power supply is an optional component of the automation system that allows the garage door to be opened and closed in the event of a power outage. The device uses a battery with a capacity sufficient for several full drive cycles and automatically switches to emergency power mode. The ABS plastic housing protects the system from moisture, and the built-in system protects against deep cell discharge.

Drives and operation
The PROFI+ garage doors can work with many drive models, including Aperto 550 L (two 2-channel remote controls), Aperto 800 XL (two 2-channel remote controls), Sommer BASE+ 800 N (one 4-channel remote control), Sommer BASE+ 1100 N (one 4-channel remote control) and the Marantec Comfort 260–380 series with various remote control configurations. Lower-power models are designed for garage doors up to 3.5 m wide, while units with higher torque (e.g. 800 XL or 1100 N) are designed for garage doors weighing over 100 kg. These drives feature soft start and stop, obstacle detection system and the option of connecting external control devices such as photocells or a code keypad.

Photocells
The infrared photocell set is part of a safety system that stops garage door movement when the beam between the transmitter and receiver is interrupted. The devices are mounted at the bottom edge of the guide rails and have a range of approximately 10 metres. The IP 54-rated housing ensures resistance to moisture and dust, and the adjustable mounting angle allows for precise alignment of the beam axis. Photocells are an optional extra.

Remote controls
The radio control system uses 868 MHz remote controls with Rolling Code encryption. Two-channel and four-channel versions are available, enabling operation of one or more garage doors. The remote control casing is made of impact-resistant plastic.

Internal bolt
The internal bolt acts as a mechanical security device, preventing the garage door from being opened from the outside. It is made of a steel rod, allowing for additional locking of the garage door. The use of a bolt increases garage door security and is a key element in preventing forced entry. The bolt is an optional extra.

Interior colours
The inner side of the panels features a white RAL 9016 finish. The paint coating is highly resistant to abrasion and chemicals used in garages. The light-coloured surface improves interior lighting and makes it easier to keep clean.

Fittings and guide rails
The fittings, hinges and guide rails are made of 1.5 mm thick galvanised steel, ensuring adequate rigidity and corrosion resistance. The colour of the elements remains natural – silver galvanised.

Guide rail
The guide rail is a component of the drive system responsible for transferring movement from the actuator to the bogie wheel. It is made of a closed-section steel profile protected against corrosion by a zinc coating. Inside the guide rail there is a drive system available in two variants: with a toothed belt or a steel chain. The belt version is characterised by quieter and smoother operation, which is particularly important in garages located directly next to the residential part of the building. The chain drive, on the other hand, is more resistant to loads and is recommended for larger or heavily used garage doors. The guide rail has a bogie wheel with sliding elements that reduce vibration, and it is mounted to the ceiling using height-adjustable steel brackets.
