Light tunnel for pitched roofs SRD-Z/L

It is no longer required to give up natural light even in rooms where it is not possible to install windows. The SRD-Z/L light tunnel with a rigid light transmitting tube allows for effective daylighting of corridors, bathrooms, dressing rooms or utility rooms located deep inside the building, enables maximum use of daylight, improves comfort and reduces electricity consumption. Installing the light tunnel does not require any structural modifications, and its robust construction and weather resistance ensure its durability and reliability for many years to come.

SRD-Z/L - Descriptions[1]

Natural lighting for interiors without windows

The SRD-Z/L light tunnel is equipped with a dome and a rigid light transmitting tube covered with a reflective silver coating, guaranteeing 98% light transmission. This allows daylight to be effectively transmitted into the interior at a distance of up to 12 meters. The light tunnel illuminates the space directly below the installation location, i.e. the attic or loft. The light transmitting tube is tightly sealed with light-blocking tapes to prevent dust from entering the interior. Installation is possible in roofs with pitches from 15° to 60°, with profiled roofing up to 45 mm.

Dome

The outer element of the light tunnel made of durable material resistant to UV rays and adverse weather conditions. Its rounded, aerodynamic shape facilitates effective drainage of rainwater and reduces dirt accumulation, which translates into durability and minimal maintenance requirements. The transparent surface allows sunlight to flow freely into the light transmitting tube, which transports it to the building.

External cladding

The durable external cladding of the light tunnel effectively protects its structure from water, wind and changing weather conditions. Made of corrosion‑resistant sheet metal, it features an integrated flashing that ensures a watertight connection with the roof surface without the need for additional mounting elements. The cladding, available in anthracite RAL 7016, grey‑brown RAL 7022 or black RAL 9005, highlights the modern appearance of the light tunnel, complementing contemporary roofing materials.

Light transmitting tube

There is an aluminum tube coated with a special silver-based reflective coating inside the light tunnel. This effectively reflects and directs up to 98% of sunlight into the room. The mirrored surface ensures even diffused daylight is efficiently utilised. The light transmitting tube is 210 cm long for sizes 250 and 350, and 180 cm long for size 550 due to the lack of SRK elbows. The tube is ideal for longer light transmission routes, up to 12 m, and its length can be adjusted using SRM modules, depending on the spatial attic arrangement.

Light diffuser

The final interior element of the system is a frosted cover, harmoniously integrated with the ceiling. Its task is to distribute daylight evenly, regardless of the angle of incidence, filling the room with natural, soft lighting. The diffuser provides access to light throughout the day, and after dark it can function as a lamp – it is enough to install the optional SLO light kit.
