Each roof has its own unique characteristics depending on the roofing type and height. Corrugated roofing requires flashings capable of compensating for different profile heights. Flat tiles require solutions with perfectly fitting edges. Panel sheet metal with a seam requires adjustment to prefabricated embossed areas, while bitumen shingles and slate require a special design of side elements, alternated with subsequent layers of roofing. FAKRO flashings have been designed to cope with each of these situations and enable the window to be installed in accordance with its function and structural requirements. With specially profiled elements, flexible aprons and careful matching to the roofing type, it is possible to achieve a uniform, tight connection. As a result, even heavy rainfall or strong gusts of wind do not affect the operation of the window and do not cause any operational problems.

Durable protection against water, snow and dirt

The multi-layer construction of FAKRO flashings makes them an advanced barrier protecting the connection between the window and the roof surface. Water drainage, supported by gutters and profiled side elements, prevents moisture accumulation in areas particularly susceptible to moisture. Protection against wind-blown snow and dust is provided by sealing wedges that fill the gaps between the surface of the flashing elements and the (profiled) roofing. The lower elements, glued with a plastic compound, adhere tightly to the roofing and form a layer that prevents water from flowing back. This system guarantees safe attic use even when the roof is exposed to heavy precipitation. The materials used in the production of flashings are highly resistant to corrosion and temperature fluctuations, significantly contributing to their long-term reliability.

Thermal insulation as a key element of an energy-efficient roof

Thermo flashings are enriched with a special insulation layer that reduces the formation of thermal bridges in the critical area where the window meets the roof structure. This solution improves the window-to-roof connection and protects against energy loss, especially during the heating season. Additional insulation of the connection between the window and the roof also reduces the risk of water vapour condensation, which is particularly important in rooms with higher humidity. Thermo flashings insulate the window frame above the level of the battens, improving the heat transfer coefficient of the entire window by up to 15% (depending on type and size).

FAKRO's system base flashings have been designed to simplify the entire installation process as much as possible. Perfectly matched side, top and bottom elements, as well as profiles covering the sides of the frame, guide the installer through each step, eliminating the risk of errors. These solutions reduce the time needed for installation and ensure full repeatability regardless of the roof pitch. Three available installation depths enable precise adjustment of the window to the specific roof structure. This system not only simplifies the roofer's work, but also gives the investor the certainty that the window will form a stable and correct structure with the roof surface.
